UKNIAF stands for United Kingdom – Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility. We are a technical assistance facility funded by UKAID and implemented by Tetra Tech International Development.
UKNIAF commenced in October 2019 and will run for four years to end in September 2023.
Our purpose is to transform the way in which infrastructure is planned, financed and delivered in Nigeria in order to produce sustainable, inclusive infrastructure solutions that improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable Nigerians.
We have three core focus areas: Power, Infrastructure Finance and Roads
- The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) funds UKNIAF. As such we are both ultimately funded by and accountable to the British people.
- We work with selected Federal Government of Nigeria Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as some state governments. Our partnerships are chosen on the basis of development impact, commitment to reform, and potential for scalability.
- We work with other development partners to leverage the impact of our interventions and consult regularly with the wider donor group in Nigeria, as well as development finance institutions in the infrastructure space.
UKNIAF’s support is implemented through the provision of technical support in three component areas namely: Power, Roads and Infrastructure Finance to government counterparts/stakeholders.
We provide technical assistance. This means giving access to world-class technical expertise at the point of need in order to resolve bottlenecks to infrastructure development.
We do not provide cash grants, and we do not provide support to non-governmental agencies or private companies.
UKNIAF has three component areas – Power, Roads and Infrastructure Finance.
UKNIAF’s impact target is improved access to climate compatible social and economic growth through pro-poor infrastructure provision.
UKNIAF’s approach to achieving these impacts through our programme Outputs is set out in our logical framework, available on the UK Government’s Dev Tracker website [here].
